Hi, I just tried posting using FF3 as my browser and couldn't. The txt field would not work for me. I'm on IE6 now which is fine. Just thought I'd let you know... it took me a while to figure out what was happening. If I hadn't got several more browsers on my computer I wouldn't have been able to post at all. Hope this is useful. |

Hi hobnob, Thanks for pointing this out, I'm using FF 3 and noticed it but I assumed it was just my computer. Anyway you are able to post using FF 3 it's just the cursor doesn't blink which is a pain -especially when you are trying to edit the post. This seems to be happening to a lot of people using Vbulletin and there are quite a few postings on the Vbulletin forums about it, hopefully they (or Mozilla) will come up with a patch/workaround. I just noticed that when I go to edit the message after posting it the cursor has returned and is blinking, this suggests it's a vbulletin issue, they are pretty good at keeping up with these things so hopefully the problem won't be around for long.

Ok, I think I fixed the problem, if you (anyone) are having problems please let me know. Thanks. Thanks for pointing this out hobnob - let me know the details of your medical forum and I'll add it to our links page, the posting yesterday was deleted as it was against posting guidelines. It will go on our links page Register(Free)/Login to View Link so include a line of text about the forum - about 10 words or so.

Hi Cormac, I'm writing this in FF3 so everything is hunky dory! Appologies for breaking posting guidelines. I did try to contact you or another admin first but there are no contact details on your profiles. I would be very grateful for the link... I'm discovering how hard it is to get a forum started! The forum url is Register(Free)/Login to View Link . It is Called "The Medical and Healthcare Career Forum" It does exactly what it says on the tin... or at least it's beginning to. It features boards by career for Doctors, Nurses, Care Assistants, Medical Sales Representatives etc. I've just realised that I'm breaking posting guidelines again... so I won't be offended when you delete this post! You can contact me (Bruce) through our forum or by any email link in the site as a whole. regards, Ian. (only sometimes known as bruce!) |

Ok, the link is posted. Best of luck with the forum, like you said they are hard to get started, you should consider Google Adwords to get a bit of traffic going to it, we gave up using Adwords about 4 months ago but they were a great source of traffic in the beginning.

Cheers Cormac, I tried adwords and it certainly worked but we got a lot of bounces. We are too specialised for a lot of people. I hate bounces from adwords. Click, cost , go. grr How long is newtotown up and running? That's a nice healthy number of members you have. Enough to ensure you keep getting bigger I would think. We are getting a lot of people registering without posting which I don't get. I wouldn't bother registering if I wasn't going to post. Ian. |

NTT is running about 2.5 years. Yeh, it's strange when people register and don't post. I delete all the users who have never posted and logged in in over 3 months every 3 months so there would probably be a lot more if I didn't, but there is no point keeping them if they aren't active, and it takes a few lbs off the database. Disregard the 'Most users ever online was 736, 10-04-2008 at 03:36 PM' in the forum statistics, that was most likely a bot flood (I've never seen more than 50 or 60 humans on this forum at any one time) it happens here from time to time - I've no idea why. I'd reset but it means logging in to the actual database.
