Default UK to Waterford

I'm looking at moving to work in Waterford for the same company I currently work for, can anyone give advice/opinions on areas to live? I currently live in a small village in the UK so am thinking edges of town or in the countryside.
Any feedback on facilities in the area - what's it like for cinemas, shopping etc would be great thanks!
